Need a theme for Dubuque Museum of Art 2016 show. Send or bring suggestions to December meetings.

Dubuque Library show sold 7 photos.  Email was sent on pickup 23 – 24 – 25 November during library hours.

No NATURE photo for November N4C submissions.

Dubuque is judging NATURE at November 16the meeting. Need three to step forward as judges.

December meeting will be holiday party, sign up sheet was passed, if you did not sign up fro something to bring please contact Jennifer Tigges.

We discussed our upcoming show at the Dubuque Museum of Art. The show will run from August 1 through October 31, and the theme is “Seasons of the Tri-States.”

Ellenor shared some notes from the Canon Explorers of Light program with Eddie Tapp, presented by the Lynn Area Photo Club.

Our next meeting on May 18th will be our final regular meeting of the year, followed by our club picnic which will be on June 1st at the EB Lyons Club.

February and March Contest Winners

Gerald Marella, Gary Fagan, and Ron Tigges all had winning entries in the N4C competitions for February and March.

Mark Dierker, Manager of Photo Acquisition at McGraw Hill Education, talked to the club about both his work with McGraw Hill and his own photography. Mark acquires photos for use in educational materials across a wide range of media, including textbooks, video, and online. This involves hiring freelance photographers across the country for assignments, and also shooting photographs using their own in-house photographers, including Mark himself.

Mark also works on his own photography projects, including astrophotography, stormchasing, and natural-light model photography. A recent photography trip took him through 5,300 miles across the western United States over nine days. This year Mark submitted applications to 53 juried shows, resulting in 52 photos showing in 25 galleries across 22 different states.

Dubuque Museum of Art Exhibit

The Dubuque Camera Club will have a show at the Dubuque Museum of Art again this year, running August 1 through October 31, 2015. The theme for this year is “Seasons of the Tri-States.”

Art @ Your Library

The club will be also be participating in the “Art @ Your Library” show at the Carnegie Stout Public Library this year. The show runs during October and November, and is included in the Dubuque Fall Into Art Tour.

Our meeting on March 2nd was very well attended, and we picked up a couple of new members as well!

We went through our submissions for the N4C March contest, and hosted some discussion on what members were looking to get out of the club in the future. If you’ve been a member of the club in the past, or are looking to join in the future, now is the time to join and let us know what you’re looking for in a camera club!

We also discussed our upcoming show with the Dubuque Museum of Art. We’ll be deciding on a theme in the next couple of weeks, then gathering photos for a show this summer.
